Millionaires Shortbread

ok i FINALLY got to the Millionaires Shortbread (AKA Fancy Twix Bar), First off when deciding to make this dedicate your day to it. Time is key for this recipe and be patience(even though im not). I had a new experience today when kneading the dough for the shortbread crust, very interesting. Dont fret when double boiling the sweetened condensed milk to make the caramel filling that you find little bits and pieces its not a big deal. also get comfortable shoes, really helps. Again my stove being oh so old i had to leave my shortbread crust in for a half hour longer then what Matt and Renato said. Tomorrow i shall be making Lemon Lime Bars. See ya Tomorrow

P.S

Heroes Season 3 on Box Set DVD THis Coming Tuesday(September 1st). Question are the people who do the marketing and such stupid? i mean releasing this the day before my school starts is very foul play. if only they released it a week ago then i could have the time to watch it instead of ditching homework of my morning Biology class. its just not fair. Red Velvet with Cinnamon Icing

Saturday making the Cinnamon didnt turn out too well, the milk, cream, flour, sugar mix was ready goes into the stand mixer, put it in stand mixer then panic. Let the mixture cool down before you add the butter. My Mistake. I tried to fix the consitensy with icing sugar and putting the icing in the refrigerator but i was in a rush sadly. I had to only use two layers becuase the thrid layer and the icing did not go well together. It looked like on big giant pile of mess. Tasted really good though. The cinnamon icing went well with the cake. but my warning, Dont let the butter melt. very bad. Anyways today im making the Millionaires Short Bread and i will keep you updated on that

Oh My

Well, 7 years ago on Tuesday, August 25th Julie Powell started the Julie/Julia Project on my 9th birthday. That day i was playing Mario Party 2 with Katherine and Mingye then for breakfast we had the most amazing Raspberry Mousse cake which i ate because they didnt like Rasberries. Who doesnt like Raspberries? Honestly, Best berry in my opinion.

Today was the Red HOT Velvet Cake. When making the water, red food colouring and cocoa mixture, dont dip your finger in and try some unless you like food thats bitter. But the cake is far from bitter when you add the butter shortening and SUGAR. tehe. Best science project ever invented is involved with this recipe. First time ever Jordan Young mixed together Vinegar and Baking Soda. I had a sheer thrill running through my veins when i saw the foamy bubblyness of awesomeness happen right before my very eyes. It turned out pink due to the fact that my tablespoon still had an itty bitty bit of red food colouring in it. Still amazing though. Im making the Cinnamon icing for the cake tomorrow as it is for Breannas Birthday Party(shhh she doesnt know about the icing change) Venturing to Wal Mart tonight to garb a highly requested Easy-Bake-Oven for her. 3 more minutes and it should be out, Keep you posted

Oh and By the way, Baked Bars are a HUGE success with customers at Yummy. Its a way better recipe then any other Ooey Gooey or SOuthern Bar i can think of. The coconut in the crust really helps it hold together better. Go Buy Baked NOW! haha See you tomorrow

The Baked Bars

Today was Baked Bars. Sweetened Condensed Milk goodness with the essence of butterscotch, white and milk chocolate chips. Mushing together the graham crumbs and coconut literally felt like in between your fingers(and under your fingernails, most annoying feeling ever). Never try to hold a 9 x 13 glass pan with one hand while trying to open the refrigerator door, the crust could tumble everywhere! luckily with my almost cat like reflexes saving the crust but with the consequence of cracks but that can easily be fixed. I exchanged the walnuts for almonds because i have packages and packages of sliced almonds in my kitchen. I love sweetened condensed milk, dont try to lick the can though, your tongues will not like that. My oven is a little more old school so it had to be in longer then in a normal one. But dont despair, the golden crusty look kinda says its done. The aroma OH! dont get me started on the aroma. Sugary delight fills your kitchen and is just a feeling of aaaaaa. waiting for it to cool down i will tell you on the tastey flavour on it tomorrow

Flourless Chocolate Cake

Well today was a good say. We had a catering to deliver to City Hall. Our good friend Stephen who left today to go back Home helped me with the delivery. Happy Birthday Jason!!! your birthday will be filled with Red Velvet and Zac Efron joy today(plus the 5-foot hannah montana cardboard cut out). My Assignment today was the Flourless Chocolate Cake. My hands have never been covered with so much Dark Chocolate before. I still smell of it. My life has been a sham with this cake until i found out what soft peaks were. I just waited for a little bubble on the surface of the egg whites. While putting the cake in i burned my hand(OUCH!). Ive never seen an apron so covered in chocolate before. OMG! That cake is so.....DEVINE! The smooth, chocolatey texture just melts in your mouth. We said screw the forks and used the knife we had to cut it with as our utensil. Its an Orgasm in your mouth. Baked Bars Tomorrow

The Adventure starts here

Hello, Ive been inspired by Julie Powell(yes i know I'm copying but shes just that great) to start my own cook book mastering blog. Ive decided to go with our favourite here at Yummy, Baked. I'm starting my adventure tomorrow as i am available for tonight(due to breanna and our little VHS DisneyMovie-a-thon we planned) I am currently on my break so let me share with you some info about myself

My name is Jordan Young but i have renamed myself Carson Denison(last night dinner at Fuegos, we all did it) Born and raised in West Vancouver and Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. My Mother Judy(Renamed Frances) worked with catering and my Father managing restaurants. I never really experienced food unless it was a food holiday such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. But my first real experience was for a science fair project where i had to make my own ice cream using a Nabob coffee can and rock salt. I didn't win it but i did get swarmed by the younger kids for the free samples. Since then Ive been addicted, i found my drug. I'm currently in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories working at my mothers soup and sandwich who is probably my biggest inspiration, supporter and fan. My older sisters are also great inspirations to me especially Jen. Yummy is the name of our little business that is sweeping Yellowknife with our marvelous Soup, Sandwiches and of course our delicious baked goods. Yes I'm still in high school, 16 going into grade 11, But i already have my whole life planned and i feel like i can do it. all of what i want is reachable. Baked is helping me get me through my "Teen-Hood" and get more experience on life. Who ever reads this thank you and i will get back to you on tomorrows starting of this Epic Adventure.
